how about ig beating mouz whereas dk losing to mouz![]()
True losers blame their team for losing
Yeah, suprised at the pool, LGD is the strongest D2 team atm, they are aslo a top team in DotA, but IG are just better in that scene.. Same with TongFu, who imo, are being forced by sponsors to play mainly DotA.
EHOME, for a team focusing only on D2 and with all the talent they got, I must say really weak performance so far..
And DK.. I don't think they are handlaing the "we play two games in 4 tours" so good.
New rankings:
Tier 1: iG, LGD
LGD has accomplished the most in Dota2 thus far, beating Zenith 2-2, winning GDM, and defeating TF with ease 2-0. 2nd strongest DotA2 team as well.
iG is the strongest DotA1 team, maybe a complete tier ahead of LGD currently. They are 2-0 DK and 7-1 LGD recently in ACE, G-Leagues, and WCG. Their recent performance in online DotA2 is inconclusive given that their only game has been against Mouz on USWest. Whether or not they can beat LGD will be clearer when they face SEA or Chinese teams on the SG server.
Tier 2:TF, EH
Tongfu has been slumping a bit in DotA2 and their DotA1 performances are not nearly as stellar as at the beginning of ACE. Still, recent performances seem to be more the result of lack of practice than them reaching their peak.
EH is a team that many feared had reached its peak. Their recent performances, however, have been very strong despite a convincing loss to iG, even featuring EH dabbling with new strategies including an impressive dual push strategy. Whether their relatively more convincing wins against foreign teams in BTS than their countrymen (iG/DK vs Mouz) is a testament to greater flexibility against non-Chinese teams or more experience coping with a ping disadvantage is not yet clear.
Tier 3: WE
Sometimes they play well (peaking at Tier 2) and sometimes they play poorly (Tier 4). After their loss to TF in the qualifiers, one wonders what WE's reason is to continue dabbling in DotA2 while DotA1 competitions are still going.
Tier 4: DK
Despite being the first Chinese team invited and initially promising performances, Burning et co. have seemingly taken several steps backwards in their gameplay and picks. Their recent DotA2 picks have consistently depended on a 4+1 strat with DK losing the early game and Burning carrying the late. Unfortunately, this is an outdated strategy in both DotA1 and 2 as results show. In DotA1, DK has dropped games against teams that are considered to be much weaker, leading to a poor ranking in ACE. In DotA2, DK lost to Mouz, which is forgivable given the playing conditions, but more worrying is their losses against MUFC and Orange. All this being said, out of all the Chinese teams, DK's pings seem to be the worst but their poor performances on all servers, in DotA1 and DotA2 suggest that other problems need to be addressed. Hope they step it up.
I say switch KingJ and Burning, then see what happens to EH and DK.
You put EH at 2nd tier because they beat coL, aL, and MUFC?
EH has been experimenting, but whether they're better than before is very hard to say based on the teams they've beaten. They haven't played a top tier team besides iG for a very long period and iG beat them.
EH is 3rd tier. WE is 4th tier - one win vs. a Zenith that was playing Pudge is not a boost in skill. The rest is fine.
I put EHome in tier 2 because they look particularly strong of late. Yes, playing against a US team on a US server and winning is pretty impressive. Nevertheless, I did add the caveat that this may be due more to online experience than actual strength. I think TF and EH should share the same tier for now as TF has had unconvincing performances against LGD, Trust, and Orange. Thus, part of my reasoning for putting EH in tier 2 is the slumping TF that was once tier 1.
WE is still stronger than DK, hence me putting them in their own tier.
Just want to note that online results are not an accurate predictor of team strengths. I rarely miss a creep with <100ms but when going above 150ms last hitting becomes really awkward (unable to stop the attack animation in time) I also get occasional packet losses and find myself in the fountain when I reconnect. My advice is not to take the results of online matches too seriously.
It really depends. Some teams aren't revealing off any good strategies until TI2 so we don't know who the best Chinese team is. Based on form, iG and LGD in my opinion are clear leaders, with EH a dark horse. WE are falling behind, and I still don't know how DK will go in Dota 2.
Of course, but it's all we have. This is my reasoning for not taking China vs Western (and even SEA) games too seriously. However, I think there is some value is comparing how each Chinese does relative to one another against Western teams in addition to amongst themselves.
The win against coL actually does put EH in second tier imo for 2 reasons:
1. Playing on US West 2 out of 3 times and winning one of these games is pretty impressive.
2. The game they won on the US West Servers showed why EH shouldn't be underestimated. The strategy was ingenious and the execution flawless. It also shows that compared to the other Chinese teams EH has way more strategies prepared than all of them.
