easy right click on your creep to follow
easy right click on your creep to follow
I used to hate the idea of turning off auto-attack, then I actually considered the pros and cons and tried it.
Pros-
You never have to walk-click or spam S/H to hide in fog, you can focus purely on your initiation.
You can lasthit better if your sense of dmg is good, lets quickly compare the two scenarios;
1- you spam S+rightclick until you know you get the lasthit
2- you wait and attack when you know you get the lasthit
Scenario 1 dictates that you have to finish your "last incorrect animation" (even with S/H, this takes a short amount of time)
Scenario 2 gives you free and perfect timing, the only downside is you dont actively refresh your memory on how quick you attack, by the spam. A senior doter will know this inside out anyway.
Cons-
"You can't hit people as quick when they run in/out of fog" - > INVALID, it took me 2 games until I got completely used to A-walking when needed.
"You can't S-abuse for lasthits anymore" well yes, I do it all the time with autoattack off, just spam rightclicks inbetween.
^THIS is something people should ALWAYS consider, if you stand and spam S to lasthit, if you don't rightclick then remember you are relying FULLY on the built-in prioritysystem on who to target, this will not always be optimal and has ruined many lasthits for me before I decided to use rightclick in all scenarios.
"You can't kill as many people in a chase" Oh rly? Take it from a player from the proscene who tried both settings -> It has no impact on that at all.
It only impacts laningphase aswell as those scenarios when you want to hide. All other scenarios you will rightclick or attackmove anyway, you never just stand still and wait for dota2 AI to help you. And if you do stand still in a fight, attackmove on the ground and relax, watch people die, how hard was that? ^^ This option is such a small change but has no downsides using it if u ask me.
I so much agree with you. I don't get why people think most of the game UIs are limited on purpose. I mean, with Dota1 the Wc3 game UI limited a lot of cool stuff and I was extremely glad to see that the Dota 2 team really thought the game outside Wc3 UI. I deeply appreciated the first look and feel of Dota2 when it looked just more "professional", it sounded like saying: "We've built something for competitive play". It was like an arena, game developers give pro-players the best tools to entertain the audience. And I loved this idea.
Yet some game UIs are not meant to be changed when they play an important part of the game dynamics (in the sense that the game evolve too much for the community if you change that feature). I'm thinking about CS no lean-left/right as the ones we find in Call of Duty for example.
But it's definitely an interesting disscussion. I think people get mixed up between general UI limitations, and game dynamics limitations.
Are you freaking kidding me? Now it was some time ago i played DotA1, but from my memory you had to spam hold/stop or walk like an idiot just to avoid a started attack animation.
Turning auto attack off gives you complete control of the hero, just spamming stop when you are going for the lasthit & time it better then your oponent that wants a deny. Imo more control over the hero -> More precise execution -> Better endresult if you know how to play the game.
There is always a+rightclick if you are chasing.. You will once again have more control of when you release your attack.
If its something HoN improved, it was this feature.
For e-sports! :lasthit:
Guys, firstly for ls there isn't only S, I didn't said that. I myself mix all the ways possible(which I think is the best). As for chasing lots of times I use A+attack and as Waga said, whom I respect a lot, A+ground is also pretty good which I mostly use. Haven't tried with auto-off, if you guys have and works fine then so be it. Also the built-in priority mechanics is not so much trouble if you get used to it, the only prob I see is with catas(somewhat).
@mollyeren Yes, I think it shouldn't have been implemented. Just stating my opinion, I didn't said the world does. I might actually give it a try considering all this feedback.
@Syyynd walk like an idiot? I see.
There is no progress without support/.
just moving back and forth can be fine especially helps with being ready to avoid ganks and get in the best positions
I don't play no games, I quit school cause of recess
Thanks a lot, Waga. I personally hate the auto-attack.
